  • Improving as a teacher

Teaching is not an easy job and over the past few years, more and more tests and processes have been introduced meaning that the job is probably even more stressful now than it has ever been.

With this in mind, it is important for a teacher to learn year upon year to allow them to save time and also manage the classroom in the best way possible to allow them to achieve the level of education they need to deliver and to get the students to the standard they need to be at.

Every year, you should take some time to review your own performance. Throughout the year make a note of any situations that arise and how you dealt with them. If it was successful then you can use it again, if it wasn’t then you can think about how you would do things different if the same situation happened again.

  • Working with a recruitment agency

If you are in the process of looking for a new job then you may wish to consider registering with a recruitment agency. The job of a recruitment agency is to find jobs that you may be able to apply for that match your skills and qualifications. Some recruitment agencies offer both temporary and long term job opportunities and you can even ask for them to look for both for you, a temp job until they find you a long term position.

When you are using a recruitment agency, especially if it is for temp work you may wish to call them on a daily basis to see if they have any jobs available as often they will not know until the morning of that day what work they have. If you have transport or are easily able to get to a place of work with little notice then you are most likely to be very successful in finding work using a temping agency.

    Taking on an apprentice

With many companies now looking to expand as the UK slowly recovers from the recession, many employers are looking to hire apprentices. Apprentices can be of great value to your company, allowing you to train them in a job exactly how you want to.

Apprentices are aged 16 or over and combine working with studying for a work-based qualification – from GCSEs or equivalent up to degree level. The government are now offering many businesses grants to allow them to take on apprentices and to decrease the number of unemployed people in the UK.

To take on an apprentice you will need to ensure that you have experienced staff that they can work with, plenty of job specific skill learning and also allow them to spend part of their week on working towards their study based qualification. An apprenticeship can last between 1-4 years, so it can be ongoing for quite a long time, this should be considered before you agree to take on an apprentice.
